Go into the meeting prepared. Have all required forms already filled out and doctors notes available.
Don’t forget a doctor’s note (make copies or ask the accessibility office to make a copy). Do not let them take your original copy.
Take in any pertinent medical records to solidify your case.
Take notes or ask if you can record the interaction.
Feel free to bring someone with you, whether it’s a family member or friend. Make sure they know what you want before the meeting, so they can help advocate for you.
Do not be afraid to ask for someone different. If someone is treating you poorly, ask to be seen by someone else.
Do not be afraid to escalate your complaint to their manager, the director of their department, etc. if you are not being heard by the person assigned to help you.
